The Wisdom Of Not-Knowing: An Online Half-Day Mindfulness Retreat
About this Event
June 28th, 10am-1pm via Zoom
Sliding scale: $40-60*
In one of his seminal teachings, a student asked Shunryu Suzuki Roshi (founder of the SF Zen Center), to sum up Buddhism in one sentence. "Everything changes," he said.
Inherent in this teaching is the wisdom of Not-Knowing. So, as practitioners of mindfulness the invitation in this teaching is to explore how to cultivate an open heart and mind that are free of clinging. In this half day retreat we will explore mindfulness practices that help open the mind heart to the unknown. We will also explore trauma informed nervous system regulation practices which can help us understand how and why we develop patterns and strategies of holding on, how to cultivate inner safety and security, and regulate our nervous systems, even in the face of uncertainty. We will explore how to get curious and creative, and how to see the opportunities for growth and awakening when we just Don't Know.
This half day retreat will include:
Mindfulness practice
Teachings on Not Knowing, Impermanence, Compassion, Letting go and Loving Kindness
Journaling and creative practices
Movement based mindfulness
Group discussion
Dyad practice
